We know only too well that each work of art
requires a suitable frame. There are countless
different types of artworks in terms of
atmosphere, color, mood and style. Daleman has
been familiar with this for decades. Our framing
section has no limitations, hence the following

Daleman framing shop offers a huge selection of
frames. This means that you can choose from 2000
different profiles. It may sound a bit arrogant, but
a frame can make or break a work of art.
That is why we will gladly assist you with our
expertise when selecting a frame. A good frame also
increases the value of your painting and the
pleasure of looking at it. To help you make a
selection from our wide range, you will see below

Passe-partouts help to accentuate the artwork
even more
We offer passe-partouts in many colors and they
are also made of environmentally friendly and
acid-free cardboard. Naturally we supply
passe-partouts in standard sizes, but in many cases
a custom-made passe-partout is much more
beautiful and therefore gives your artwork more
cachet. Just like the choice of frames,
Daleman offers a surprisingly large assortment
of passe-partouts. To give you an idea, there is an
overview of the possibilities below:

Given the large assortment, there is always a
solution, but choosing the right passe-partout can
sometimes be more difficult. In that case, we will be
happy to advise you.
Sometimes glass is indispensable in the framing
Many types of glass are produced and that allows
us to choose the best types of glass for framing.
Below we indicate which types of glass can be
used along with their associated properties.
The standard glass thickness is 2 mm:
•
Normal clear glass, with which reflection
must be taken into account.
•
Anti-reflective glass, which does not cause
reflection but is therefore less clear.
•
Plexiglas, which does not have the clarity of
clear glass, but reflects less and has the great
advantage that it is unbreakable.
•
Art glass that offers your artwork 70% UV
protection. It is a clear glass and the original
colors are not damaged.
•
Museum glass has the same properties as
Art glass, but even offers 99% UV protection.
Tip: For large sizes, we recommend a thickness
of 3 mm or Art glass.For the correct use of glass
when framing, you can always call on us for
expert advice.
Stretching of paintings on canvas
A painting on canvas is the result of an artist, of
whatever level. Now there are two possibilities for
this artwork. You can enhance it or diminish it.
By this we mean the way in which the fabric is
stretched. Lijstenmakerij Daleman knows only too
well what the consequences are. When you have
a canvas expertly stretched, a uniform image is
created as the artist intended. Skillful stretching is
far from a simple window and a stapler. Improper
stretching will likely diminish the artwork; even the
slightest crease will cause disappointment or even
irritation. At Daleman canvases are custom
stretched For the smaller sizes we usually use
a 4.5 cm wide frame, but from 100 x 100 cm we
always recommend using a 6.5 cm frame to ensure
firmness and stability. Because the frames are
2 cm high, there is also a good application
possibility with normal frames and low back frames.

Stretching embroidery work
Embroidery works are often special pieces of art
ranging from very modest to quite a large size.
They take a considerable amount of time and
patience to make and it is therefore not surprising
that they are often stretched to be put on display.
This greatly improves the presentation because
every fold and wrinkle disappears – provided it is
done professionally, of course. Fortunately, you do
not have to worry about this at Lijstenmakerij
Daleman. We always work with acid-free cardboard,
so that your embroidery is not affected. In addition,
we attach it in the background using double-sided
tape. But there are even more possibilities:
•
You can also have the stretched embroidery
framed with or without a passe-partout.
•
You can also choose whether to frame your
embroidery with or without glass.
•
You can also choose to have your embroidery
photographed and have the picture framed.

Drop-off, collection, delivery and shipping times
We try to have everything ready for everyone as
quickly as possible.We work very meticulously
when framing. You can expect that from us and of
course also that we will handle your beloved
material carefully. Nevertheless, we want to be as
flexible as possible. Depending on the artwork,
framing takes 2 to 10 working days. Sometimes
rush jobs are possible: bring in one day and pick
up the next day. If you do not live near one of the
two locations, collection and delivery is possible for
a small fee. If you have any doubts about sending,
collecting, bringing in or delivery, we advise you to
first call us for helpful advice. Our locations are
in The Hague and Leiden.

Daleman's work sometimes requires a
project-based approach in view of the numbers,
delivery time, exhibitions and work for artists.
Thus it is good to know that you can also come to us
